How do I create an irrigation layer using Center Pivot Irrigation?
Overview:
Use the Center Pivot Irrigation tool in Field360 Studio to specify irrigated zones within a field boundary. Integrate irrigation zones into Decision Zones to assist with creating seeding prescriptions, application recommendations, precision field monitoring and to pull into Granular Insights.
Requirements:
- Farms and field boundaries created
Process:
- Navigate to the correct Operation and Crop year in Field360 Studio.
- Click the Irrigation menu and select Center Pivot Irrigation.
- Click the New Pivot
icon.
- Name the pivot in the New Pivot Window: and then click OK.
- Select the pivot in the Available Pivots section of the Center Pivot Irrigation Window and select the field in the Domain Tree that the pivot will be placed on.
- Click the Draw Pivot
icon.
- Click the center of the pivot on the field (left-click and hold) and then drag the cursor to the edge of the pivot on the field and release the left mouse button.
- The pivot circle will turn red. This location is adjustable.
- Adjust the location of the pivot by clicking the Move Pivot
icon.
- Two icons appear on the map:
- The cross in the center moves the pivot.
- The double-arrow in the corner changes the size of the pivot.
- Two icons appear on the map:
- Click the Save Pivot
icon.
- Note: This does not create a layer. It saves a template from which layers are created. This template does not respect field boundaries. If the pivot spans two fields, the layer is created in both fields.
- Close the Center Pivot Irrigation window.
- Select the field in the domain tree in which the irrigation layer is to be created.
- Note: This action can be done on the farm or operation level to create layers for multiple fields at once.
- Click the Irrigation menu and select Create Irrigation Layer.
- Enter "Irrigation Zones" into the Layer Name field.
- Note: If the irrigation zones are used with Encirca Decision Zones, the name of the layer must be Irrigation Zones.
- Click OK.
- The Irrigation Zones layer is saved to the highlighted field in the domain tree.
Note: You may have to delete your Encirca Decision Zones layer under the crop zone if it was already created before you created your pivot for that field. An MYYA and DZ Reset will then incorporate the pivot into your decision zones.
