How do I Create Test Blocks Using the Management Zone Wizard?

Overview: 

The Management Zone Wizard in Field360 Studio merges customized management-zone layers with the Encirca Decision Zones layer. This tool is used with check blocks, certain trials, and unique factors that might be considered during prescription creation.

Requirements

• Field boundaries created.
• Crop Zones assigned.
• A management-zone region layer with a labeled group attribute on the field.
• An existing Encirca Decision Zones layer under the crop zone.

Instructions

1. In the Grower window, select the Operation and Crop Year. 
2. In the Resources window, Expand the farm and select the field from the domain tree.
3. On the menu bar, select Tools and then Management Zone Wizard.
4. Select initial analysis options:
   • Choose a soil of ERU or SSURGO.
     • ERU is a Pioneer-researched Environmental Response Unit and is highly recommended. 
     • SSURGO is based on national soil survey data. 
   • Choose a Yield Index Layer if available
     • DZ Yield Zones is the automatically generated yield history layer. 
     • A custom multi-year yield analysis layer can be selected and appears in this menu if available. 
   • Enter the minimum allowed polygon size.
     • The default value is one acre. Try using a smaller polygon size if a desired zone is not visible when previewing zones. If too small of a polygon size is used, a warning will display indicating possible performance issues.
5. Choose up to two custom layers and select at least one attribute. This is where the Custom Test Block layer is available.
   • 
   • Checking Persist Attributes guarantees that the system will generate results that respect the custom test blocks from the management zone layer. 
6. Click the scissors icon to Preview.
   • 
7. If the zone is correct, select Send to Cropzones.
8. Click Save.
9. A 20** Manual Decision Zones layer appears on the domain tree.
   • The Manual Decision Zones layer (middle) is a procedurally generated combination of the test block layer (left) and the Decision Zones layer (right).
