How do I load soil sample points into Field360 Studio?
Overview:
Fertility can make nutrient recommendations based on yield history, yield targets, or soil samples. Rather than using a Work Order and the AgStudio Map app to collect and submit samples, CSA's and sales reps may choose to use a third party to collect soil samples.
Requirements:
- Farms and field boundaries created.
- Crop Zones assigned.
- Exported soil sample points from a third-party GIS system as shape files.
- Read the Soil Test Layer Attribute Standards article.
Process:
- In Field360 Studio, in the Grower window, select the Operation and Crop Year.
- On the Layers menu, select Layer Import.
- Set Layer type to Soil Test.
- Select the Soil test lab associated with the samples to import.
Note: Lab selection is is required for the samples to be used in Encirca services. For information on the correct lab, contact your Area Digital Services Manager (ADSM).
- Enter the date the samples were collected.
- Click the Add File button to navigate to the files you want to upload, select the files, and click Open.
Note: A .shp is the preferred file type however .csv can be used if it includes the latitude and longitude for each sample point.
7. With the layer selected, choose Encirca Soil Test Layer from the template list.
8. For the attributes you want to import, select the corresponding Encirca attribute name in the Map To column and select the appropriate UOM (Unit of Measure).
Note: The minimum required soil test attributes are phosphorus, potassium, pH, BpH, CEC and Organic Matter.
9. After the attributes are mapped, click Upload.
10. Points are automatically matched to the correct field boundaries. A summary page shows the results.
11. In the Resource tree, notice that the Encirca Soil Test Layer contains the nutrient analysis that was mapped.
