The Nitrogen service uses a proprietary corn crop model to track key aspects of crop growth, crop development, and soil nitrogen dynamics to estimate current and future nitrogen needs. The model predicts estimated soil nitrogen needs at VT/R1 using the key management factors, decision zone (management zone), and hybrid information. For Pioneer® brand products, hybrid-specific genetic parameters are used in the model.
Granular Nitrogen uses local weather information in the modeling process, which includes current and near-term forecasts to track current nitrogen needs and soil levels. For future dates, potential plant growth and soil nitrogen dynamics are tracked using multiple years of historical weather data.
For Nitrogen Prescriptions (Rx), selected decision zone and management information is used to create a target nitrogen level for each field decision zone.
