The Weather Company (TWC) was purchased by IBM in 2016 and has a significant focus on modeling accuracy, including using IBM’s Watson. They have more than 250,000 global weather stations, access to atmospheric data from 50,000 daily commercial airlines flights, and exclusive access to pressure sensors on millions of Apple and Samsung phones running their apps that add input to their forecast models. TWC uses 162 forecast models to impact their final forecast performance.
