Fertility recommendations utilizing Yield Targets can be pointed to the YieldTarget attribute in the Encirca Decision Zone Layer. The YieldTarget attribute is created when a Yield Goal is applied using Corteva Fields. Individual polygon Yield Targets can be adjusted by navigating to Nitrogen 2.0 > Field Setup > select the pencil icon next to Yield Goal. After making and saving individual polygon adjustments the YieldTarget attribute in the EDZ is updated. When attempting to use this feature for a fertility recommendation utilizing yield target variables for two years a limitation is reached with the inability to set a Yield Goal two years in advance.
Scripts can be established in Advanced Nutrient Recommendations to accommodate a two year fertility spread and still utilize variable Yield Targets across Decision Zones.
Scenario 1
A grower has a crop rotation where the previous crop is the same as the 2nd year crop. For example the grower planted soybeans in 2020, corn was planted in 2021, soybeans will again be planted in 2022. For this scenario a user could establish a script in crop year 2021. For this scenario, set two Commodities in the Nutrient Script Editor. For Commodity one use the following settings. Name/Corn, Year/Current. For Commodity two use the following settings. Name/Soybeans, Year/Current - 1. Note the sequence is set to 1 for both commodities and Yield Goal Source is Yield from layer using the YieldTarget attribute from the Encirca Decision Zone layer. The script will utilize the current year’s Yield Goal for corn and the previous years Yield Goal for soybeans.
Scenario 2.
A grower is not in a crop rotation where the previous crop is the same as the 2nd year crop. Here sequencing can be utilized. In Field360 Studio place both crop zones in the current year. When placing the crop zone for the crop to be planted in the current year, the crop zone is set to sequence 1. When placing the crop zone for the crop to be planted in the second year, the crop zone is set to sequence 2. Use either Corteva Fields or Field Setup to establish a Yield Goal for both crop zones.
In the Nutrient Script Editor set two Commodities. For Commodity one use the following settings. Name/Corn, Year/Current. For Commodity two use the following settings. Name/Soybeans, Year/Current. In this script set the 2nd year crop to sequence 2. Note in both Commodities the Yield Goal Source is Yield from layer using the YieldTarget attribute from the Encirca Decision Zone layer. The equation will utilize the appropriate Yield Targets and associated crop removal rates. The results are combined and placed underneath the sequence 1 crop zone. After verifying the recommendation accuracy the sequence 2 crop zone can be removed from the domain tree.
