How Do I View Nitrogen Performance Details?
Overview
From the Season Chart page, we can view the details of season-long nitrogen simulation data for any specific zone.
Prerequisites:
- Nitrogen Simulation ran, which requires:
- Zones created
- Yield Targets set
- Planting event created
- Nitrogen event created
Process:
- From the Granular Agronomy Platform, open the Events tab.
- From the Fields list, navigate to your specific field.
- Towards the right, locate the Projected N icon.
- Note: This displays after running a nitrogen simulation.
- Click any individual zone on the simulation map
- Nitrogen Performance Details appear in the left-hand panel.
- Alternatively, for a field-level view, look below the map at the Season Chart. In the upper-right corner, toggle Season Chart to Field Nitrogen Performance.
- Understanding Terms:
- Nitrogen-Loss Factors:
- Denitrified - Conversion of usable N (nitrate) to N2 gas (subject to atmospheric loss).
- Immobilized - Removal of available nitrogen from circulation by converting inorganic N (NO3, NH4) to organic forms through microorganisms
- Leached - Loss of N (nitrate) as it is carried below the root zone with ground water.
- Volatilized - Loss of N as ammonium converts to ammonia gas and is released into the atmosphere.
- Nitrogen-Increasing Factors:
- Mineralized - A process through which Organic N (unavailable) becomes NH4+ (ammonium) (available) through microorganisms
- Final Nitrogen Metrics:
- Crop Uptake - Estimated amount of N the plant has removed from the soil.
- Soil Levels - Estimated amount of N available in the soil accounting for all N gains and losses. This is functionally equivalent to the Season Chart.
