How do I set Initial Nitrogen in Granular Nitrogen?
Overview:
Initial nitrogen is set in the user interface for the total (or individually for NO3/NH4) amount of nitrogen for 0-24 inches and the date for initial nitrogen.
- Default is 42 pounds of total nitrogen on October 1 preceding the year when the crop will be grown.
- Default represents the average of data collected from soil samples taken in enrolled fields for the 2014 and 2015 growing seasons and is a good starting point.
- Adjust up or down from this based on local and field needs.
Prerequisites:
Process:
- Login to Granular Insights and navigate to the Operation.
- Click on Nitrogen from the left panel.
- Navigate to a field and click on the Initial N value for that field.
- Click any of the options and enter the value(s): Total N (ppm), OR Total N (lbs N/ac), OR NO3 & NH4 (ppm).
- Enter a Date for your Initial N start date.
- Enter the Total N and/or NO3 & NH4 (ppm) values.
- Click Save.
Initial N values can also be added in bulk to fields:
- Click the checkboxes next to the fields to add an Initial Nitrogen value to.
- Click on the Edit Field Details box in the lower right corner.
- Select the Initial N option from the pop-up window.
- Follow steps 4-7 from above.
